Focus on the Future

I want to share this article that I read in a Kenneth Hagin (the father of faith!) magazine. I thought it was a good word to share. So many times I have shared with people that eating right is more than about food. It is about giving God all of us, and especially letting go of those things that fights for our affections. I pray that it blesses you as much as it blessed me as you leave some things or unhealthy habits behind so you can be healthier spirit, soul, and body and focus on the future that God has for you. If this blog blesses you, write me and tell me about it. I would love to hear from you and please share this with your family and friends.

We must decide whether we will hold onto the past and go backward, or focus on the promises of God and move into the future He has for us.

The Apostle Paul chose to focus entirely on his future with God. In Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV) he wrote, “Brethren I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (What habits that you need leave behind so you can embrace your future?)

Though Paul wrote this late in his life, he was still “reaching forward.” He said, “I do not count myself to have apprehended.” “I have not achieved” (NLT). “I can’t consider myself a winner yet.” Paul recognized that there was something more in front of him. (Let this me your greatest motivator as you make your lifestyle changes. The bible says we have a race to run and in order to run we have to strip off some things that might hinder us from running, Hebrews 12:1, Eph. 4:22-25).

We, too, must recognize that the future is in front of us. And we must prepare ourselves right now to do what God wants us to do. You see, a farmer doesn’t wait until harvest time to plant the seed or get his equipment ready. He knows that preparation time is critical, because it will affect the performance of the harvest. It’s the same in our lives. How we look at today matters. It’s not just another day. It’s a time that we have been given to get ready for tomorrow. Today, we prepare for the opportunities coming our way. Today, we prepare for the adversities we will face, today, we get ready for eternity. (I am adding, Today, we strip off the old man with its lust and affections, and put on the new man in Christ Eph. 4:22-25, Proverbs 4:22.

If you are struggling with what seems to be overwhelming circumstances and can't seem to win in these areas, I want to encourage you that with the help of the Holy Spirit and the word of God you can break through barriers this year, break strongholds and you can bounce back from setbacks.
