Heart Disease Risk Factors

Did you know that your heart disease risk factors are smoking or other tobacco products, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, overweight or obesity, diabetes, stress, and lack of exercise? While It’s true that there are some things that are beyond your control like race, color or what family you are born into, but when it comes to your health their are risk factors that are within your control so that you can have a healthier lifestyle and possibly avoid chronic disease or premature death.

God says in His word that His people were destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Knowledge (application of wisdom) is something that you simply can’t overlook if you are to make positive changes in behaviors that could decrease your risk factors for heart disease.

If I’ve said it once, I will say it a thousand more times, what you eat does matter! Your risk factors can be decreased or alleviated by what you eat. If you need help, pray first for strength, courage, and a willing heart to make changes that you are able to maintain. Talk to your health care provider for help in managing your risk factors. I encourage you to be intentional in 2019. Identify your risk factors and be consistent in doing whatever it takes to make positive changes!
