Christ as our Emotional Role Model
I was reading this wonderful book on emotional Intelligence. This is a book that the author wrote to help missionaries deal with their emotions while in the field. His premise is that we are to use Jesus Christ as our emotional role model and that the working and keeping of our emotions is doing through the work and grace of the Holy Spirit.
Have you ever wondered what your life would look like if Jesus was emotional unstable? Do you think He would have made to the cross if He was being led by His emotions? Let’s pause and think about this for a moment, how did Jesus make it to the cross? What or who was His stabilizer? The change agent that enabled Him to face his greatest challenge? Who carried Him so that He didn’t fall or fail? The word of God tells us that it was through the work and grace of the Holy Spirit that Jesus was able to face his greatest challenge. He was in constant prayer and fellowship with the Father.
Cooperating with the Holy Spirit during this season of celebrating as you endeavor to hold onto your nutritional lifestyle changes is key! Prayer is your anchor! Surrender this area of your life to Him and He will strengthen you!
Proverbs 16:32 says that “Whosoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty. And he who rules his spirit than he who take a city.” That’s powerful and it speaks to the power of controlled emotions. You are not alone on your Journey. Help is only a prayer away.
