I don’t know how serious you are about changing or maintaining your nutritional goals, but, for me, it’s a pretty serious matter. At one point in my life I was at an all-time high of 205 lbs. and had entered the arena of being prediabetic. With the help of God, I was able to lose 55 lbs. So yeah, I take my healthy lifestyle pretty seriously. As a healthcare professional, I have seen the consequences of not taking care of your body. I wanted to avoid the scene of having to take insulin-or even pills, for that matter. Praise God that we have medicine on hand, and there’s no guilt or condemnation to those who take medication. I had a patient tell me once that his medicine was his miracle. I respect that. That was his level of faith and I have learned that you meet people where they’re at. But for me, I have decided to make my food my medicine and since Jesus is Lord of my life, then He’s the owner. Lord means owner. “We are not our own but bought with a price…” (1 Cor. 6:20)
I have to admit, even now my owner has to lead and guide me in this area. Why? The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. The wonderful thing now is, I recognize the need for His help and am so grateful when He corrects me and steers me down the right road! He won’t let me mess up! What a mighty God we serve. That’s what I mean when I say, “Get God involved in your lifestyle changes.” He will keep you, because He cares about you! He’s not so big that He’s not touched by our humanity-the daily things we go through, the things we struggle with in this life. (Hebrews 4:15)
A lot of people equate God only with eternal salvation; they’re not aware that He also cares about our earthly salvation-salvation means wholeness, soundness, preservation and deliverance from hurt or harm. God wants us whole and sound. He cares about what affects us and if our eating habits are hindering our health, you bet He cares! Don’t ever think that this area of your life is off limits to Him. If it affects you, He’s all over it! God wants to deal with anything and everything in our lives that might affect our relationship with Him; and if our health is a problem, you bet He wants to be involved in helping us keep or get our healing!
OK, I felt like “preaching” with this blog, so hope you don’t mind. It’s just that our life and health are so important, and I know it’s on the heart of God. My prayer is that it’s on your heart as well. Take care and stay healthy!
