6 Tips to Staying Motivated with Exercise-Part 2

I don’t know about you but I’m totally bored with my exercise routine: The weight lifting, the tread mill, my biking and I love to bike! But, yea, I bored with the whole 9 yards. I just researched some fast paced gospel music because I need a change! I’m going to try something different for the next 30 days! I’ m going to incorporate dancing into my routine. I need to mix it up a bit to stay motivated! If you’re bored with your exercise routine, here are a few tips to gets you motivated.

  1. Set realistic goals. Don’t expect to run a marathon if you haven’t exercised in a while! Start out by walking 10 minutes every day for a set number of days or weeks and then increase it to 30 minutes a day after a few weeks. And before long, you will be conditioned to run that marathon! Set short term, intermediate and long term goals for yourself.

  2. Make it fun like I’m about to do! Mix it up a bit! I was in the store shopping the other day and the badminton game caught my eye. Huh, I might get a few folks together and give that a try this summer! There is a concrete wall at the tennis court at my park district. I’m not a tennis player by any means but I think I might return to that again and go out and hit a few balls off of that wall at least once or twice a week. I have wanted to do ballroom dancing forever but haven’t worked up the nerve for that yet!

  3. Well let’s face it. If we’re committed to a healthy lifestyle, exercise has to become a part of our daily routine. And like it or not, we have to schedule it. It has to become as routine as taking a shower every day and getting dressed! It’s just something we have to do.

  4. Ok, for those who know me and have been following me for a while, you know I have to go biblical! That’s just what I do! Write the vision and make it plain (Habakkuk 2:2). Write your vision for your life and include in it your weight loss goals and make it a practice to read your vision out loud every day. Faith comes by hearing…... (Romans 10:17) As you hear your vision, you will begin to believe your vision. Get a picture of how you want to look and see yourself looking that way! Right now beside my computer, I have a picture of myself at my daughter’s wedding from May 2015! That’s my goal to maintain!

  5. Reward yourself. The right way though! Buy yourself a new outfit if you’ve dropped a few pounds! Buy those pair of new sneakers you’ve always wanted! Treat yourself to breakfast after a morning routine but choose from the skinny menu!

  6. This tip is really, really important! If you need to take a break, do so! Sometimes you just have to step back and take a mental day off from working out. Sometimes you just need to sleep in some mornings and not have a routine. Mental health is just as important as physical health!

What are your challenges to overcoming boredom with exercise? Write me and tell me about it. I would love to hear from you. Caring is sharing-feel free to share this blog with family and friends.
